Eating out takes only a few forms. Hamburgers from the stands around town usually are pretty good and cost only 40Leks (L=Leks, ~$0.01/L). They consist of a small meat patty on a roll of bread like Italian, French fries, spicy catsup and red peppers.
There is a pizza place in town that is medium to taste, but a good, quick, inexpensive meal. As usual, the drinks (Pepsi, etc.) are most of the cost. They cost 70L each here.
The Hotel Tirana is pretty good. The seven of us can eat for about $40.
The Hotel Dajti is good, but is about $8.00 each.
There is a new Chinese restaurant that is very good and very reasonable. A dinner for four runs around 1950 L then plus drinks and rice. The cooks are Chinese and do a very good job.
There are also two Italian restaurants in town, but both have a reputation for being very expensive. We haven’t tried them because of that.
The French restaurant is also expensive. None of the expensive places are attractive because there are a growing number of good and reasonable restaurants to choose from.
